Temple East Park Canoe House
AKRF helped design site improvements around the East Park Canoe House in Philadelphia.
As part of the OLIN consultant team selected by Temple University and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, AKRF addressed the study and design of green stormwater infrastructure elements to manage and treat stormwater runoff from two large parking lots and the adjacent Kelly Drive. With the improved stormwater design, 64% of the site’s impervious surfaces are managed by green infrastructure or other low impact development techniques.
Two bioretention features are located to manage runoff from the northern and southern portions of the site. Completed in 2018, the facility houses the university’s rowing team and a Philadelphia Marine Police unit, and hosts over 40 regattas on the Schuylkill River annually.
