Sgt. George Ashby Memorial Park is undergoing improvements designed by AKRF in two phases.

The three-acre park — named for the “last remaining New Jersey Civil War veteran”— is nestled in the heart of historic downtown Allentown, NJ, which is known for being the crossroads of the American Revolution due to the number of skirmishes fought in the area.

The first phase of work focused on site circulation and connectivity to the surrounding community and the second phase focused on the installation of rain gardens, a tree grove, and a native wildflower meadow. We worked with the Borough to obtain two separate County Open Space grants to construct the park and led the project’s public engagement and visioning campaign.
