Sendero Verde opened in 2024 as the largest fully affordable Passive House building in the world.

AKRF served as CEQR environmental consultant for the East Harlem project developed by L+M Development and Jonathan Rose Companies and designed by Handel Architects. Sendero Verde contains 709 residential units and resident amenities, including community facilities for Union Settlement Association, retail spaces, gardens, and a public courtyard.

The project was financed through HPD and HDC’s ELLA (Extremely Low and Low-Income Affordability) Program, and 36 units will be set aside for formerly homeless families, who will have access to social services programs provided by Promesa.
