National Grid determined its transmission line between the Wildwood and Riverhead Substations needed to be upgraded from 69 kilovolts to 138 kilovolts.

Because this transmission line is more than 10 miles long and 100 kilovolts, AKRF prepared an Article VII application to the Public Service Commission for the requisite Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need authorizing the construction, operation, and maintenance of the line.

Our environmental analyses included land use, natural resources, visual resources, coastal zone consistency, and construction impacts, and we assembled the full Article VII package from various sources within National Grid and the Long Island Power Authority.
