Port Authority Bus Terminal Replacement
The proposed Midtown Bus Terminal will reimagine Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan and its connection to the Lincoln Tunnel.
AKRF was part of the consultant team who led environmental analysis and documentation pursuant to NEPA/CEQR requirements for the $10 billion project, which will include a new 2.1 million-square-foot terminal, a separate storage and staging building, and new ramps leading directly into and out of the Lincoln Tunnel.
The revised project plan also proposes the permanent closure of a portion of 41st Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues and the creation of 3.5 acres of publicly accessible green spaces on Port Authority property.
The City of New York fully approved the project following a unanimous vote by the City Council in November 2024 and the Federal Transit Administration issued a Record of Decision on the Final Environmental Impact Statement in December 2024.
