Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan presents over 5,000 years of art in one of the world’s largest museums.
AKRF has served as The Met’s environmental and transportation consultant for more than two decades, including environmental review, strategy planning, and pedestrian analyses for the institution’s various planning efforts and physical improvements.
Projects have included the Long-Term Feasibility Study and renovation of the Costume Institute, David H. Koch Plaza, and Michael C. Rockefeller Wing. The Met held a groundbreaking ceremony in 2021 for the latter project, for which AKRF analyzed potential environmental issues affecting replacement of the wing’s exterior-glazed curtain wall.
