Grand Central Madison
Opened in 2023, Grand Central Madison allows Long Island rail commuters direct access to East Midtown Manhattan.
Grand Central Madison is a core component of the East Side Access, and the 700,000-square-foot terminal features eight tracks and four platforms on two new levels below the existing lower level of Grand Central Terminal.
AKRF led an interdisciplinary team that prepared ridership forecasts, led public outreach, and conducted a full range of environmental studies on a fast-track schedule.
As engineering progressed and construction began, AKRF conducted environmental reviews of modifications to finalize the project design and prepared NEPA-compliant environmental re-evaluations, including technical memoranda and a Supplemental Environmental Assessment.
