A new workspace for AKRF is meeting higher standards for the contemporary office experience.

Opened in 2024, the 6,000-square-foot space at 432 Park Avenue South in Midtown Manhattan emphasizes biophilic design through live plantings, natural light, sustainable natural materials and an optimized acoustical environment with cutting-edge soundscaping by Moodsonic.

The new space includes our 600-square-foot PinDrop acoustical rendering suite, open-concept collaboration areas, workstations, offices, a huddle room, a phone booth, and a ‘quiet zone’ for physiological relaxation along with deep work and high-focus individualistic activities.

AKRF served as owner and acoustics, noise, and vibration consultant with a focus on bespoke acoustical treatments and soundscapes.

Each zone of the floorplan is mapped intentionally and equipped with a customized acoustical solution that blends seamlessly into the biophilic theme of the space.

Hanging acoustical treatments are reminiscent of tree canopies and forests; glass walls host multi-purpose transparent panels to reduce speech frequency acoustical reflections while allowing light to cascade through; and wall and ceiling solutions take on the look of wood, stone, and moss.

Each space has context-sensitive, scientifically selected generative soundscapes, such as a babbling brook, waves, or varying intensities of rain—with designated areas also including birdsong, trees swaying in the breeze, distant thunder, and harmonic elements.
