Fiesta Schoolyards
The Fiesta Schoolyards initiative replaces vacant hardscapes around Philadelphia with safe, clean, and dynamic play spaces.
Fiesta Schoolyards is a Lindy Foundation initiative in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia that provides an affordable and easily permittable kit of parts for playground play equipment. AKRF has worked to develop over 30 safe and accessible options including pavement games, gabion seats, stages, maps, instruments, boulder and stump seating, and other play elements.
This approach allows for schools with tighter budgets to activate their yards quickly and with less regulatory encumbrance while larger more funding intensive plans take shape. Our services include landscape architecture, civil engineering, and construction administration.
