Empire Wind is expected to generate over 2,000 megawatts of clean energy about 12 nautical miles south of Long Island.

AKRF was part of the consultant team led by ICF who worked with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and Equinor to prepare the NEPA Environmental Impact Statement for Empire Wind off the coasts of New York and New Jersey. BOEM completed its environmental review of the proposed Empire Wind offshore wind farm in 2022 and the project was approved in 2023.

We wrote the Benthic Resources, Fish, Invertebrate, and Essential Fish Habitat, Marine Mammals, Sea Turtles, Commercial Fisheries, and Demographics, Employment, and Economics sections of the EIS, and also led preparation of the Essential Fish Habitat Assessment and Biological Assessment.

AKRF has also provided site assessment and remediation services for a proposed substation on Long Island.
