Con Edison Reliable Clean City Program
Con Edison's Reliable Clean City projects are helping to enable the retirement of fossil fuel power plants in New York City.
In 2023, Con Edison completed a six-mile transmission line in Queens connecting substations in Corona and Long Island City — one of their three Reliable Clean City projects. AKRF supported permitting and licensing efforts for the $275 million project and prepared an Environmental Management Plan to guide stormwater best management practices during construction.
We have also coordinated permitting for a second Reliable Clean City project: a proposed nine-mile, 138 kV underground transmission line between the Goethals and Fox Hills Substations in Staten Island.
