Atlantic Chestnut will include 1,200 units of affordable housing in three interconnected buildings on 4.5 acres.

AKRF has been providing site assessment/remediation and civil engineering for the $850 million project under construction in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn. Developed by Phipps Houses and designed by Dattner Architects, the project is redeveloping former burned manufacturing buildings encompassing an entire city block.

Our work includes the multi-phase management of three New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program sites to remediate chlorinated solvents, petroleum, and metals via excavation, groundwater treatment, and long-term monitoring of vapor extraction and treatment systems. We have also provided noise and air quality E-Designation services for the project.
