Adelaar Resort and Casino
Adelaar is a transformative entertainment, recreation, shopping, and lodging destination in the Catskill Mountains.
The $1.2 billion Resorts World Catskills opened in 2018 with an 18-story luxury hotel, golf course, and 100,000-square-foot casino; the $150 million Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark opened with a 324-room luxury hotel and waterpark in 2019; and Monster Golf Club reopened to public play in 2023 following its renovation.
Full-service planning and design
AKRF led SEQRA environmental review, civil engineering design, permitting, and construction administration for the properties, transportation improvements, and infrastructure, including new roadways, traffic signals, utility extensions, and stormwater management. We used IMPLAN to prepare the economic and fiscal benefits analysis for construction and annual operations for the Environmental Impact Statement, for which the Findings Statement was issued in 2012.
The project also required the design and construction of over 10.5 acres of new wetlands as mitigation for impacts, and AKRF provided geotechnical engineering for installation and upgrade of the existing water supply infrastructure in the area. We also performed a hydrology and hydraulic analysis of a portion of Kiamesha Creek adjacent to the project site to confirm the proposed resort development was in compliance with FEMA National Flood Insurance Program guidelines.
We provided construction administration, document control, resident engineering inspection, environmental permit compliance inspections, and close-out inspections and certifications.
