AKRF continues to make substantive contributions to the public planning and policy initiatives of local government.

AKRF provides consulting services for the review, development, and implementation of public policy, including the preparation of municipal comprehensive plans and neighborhood and campus master plans.

Our efforts often focus on land use, zoning, economic development, transportation, open space, sustainability, and climate change.

We have been a stakeholder in developing New York City’s Green Fast Track Initiative, serve on New York City’s Get Stuff Built Advisory Board, and are currently working with the New York City Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice to lead implementation of the pilot program for the city’s groundbreaking Climate Resiliency Design Guidelines.

Recent Milestones

Government approvals of the Gowanus Neighborhood Plan, SoHo/NoHo Neighborhood Plan, Pennsylvania Station Area Civic and Land Use Improvement Project, Central Business District Tolling Program, and Dining Out NYC are just a sample of the impact AKRF has had on public planning and policy in recent years.

AKRF served as environmental consultant for the Penn Station area redevelopment plan and currently provides environmental planning for plans to renovate and expand the station itself.
