The East Midtown Greenway opened in 2023 from East 53rd to East 61st Streets in Manhattan.

AKRF provided environmental services as part of the Stantec team for the $100 million project, including environmental review; site assessment/remediation consulting; acoustical consulting to control highway noise in the green space; and environmental permitting and review support. The greenway is comprised of a 40-foot-wide waterfront esplanade with 2,000 linear feet of walkways and bikeways for pedestrians and cyclists.

The East Midtown Greenway is the second of three sections of the East Midtown Waterfront Project that, once complete, will contribute to the full encirclement of Manhattan with pedestrian and cyclist facilities. The greenway features a pedestrian bridge at 54th Street, in-water structure, and topside landscape and bicycle path, and connects to Andrew Haswell Green Park at 62nd Street.

AKRF also provided environmental, permitting, and engineering support as part of the Jacobs consultant team for Phase 2B of Andrew Haswell Green Park.
