AKRF is working with the City of Stamford to evaluate the feasibility of an ATCS for the Route 1 corridor.

Adaptive Traffic Control Systems react and adapt to actual traffic demand in real-time, and the Route 1 corridor in Stamford encompasses 26 signalized intersections. We have thus far developed a Phase 1 system model, reviewed and optimized the current controller programming for optimal ATCS operations, and developed ATCS parameters to be used for system deployment.

AKRF is currently preparing the measures of effectiveness comparing the recently retimed corridor with the proposed ATCS operations and providing guidance to the city regarding signal equipment upgrades and priorities for implementation.
