Queensbury Adaptive Signal Control Technologies Study
The Aviation Road and Quaker Road corridor in Queensbury is an urban principal arterial in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.
The Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council retained AKRF to study the feasibility of implementing an adaptive traffic control signal system within and around the corridor with sixteen primary signals and six secondary signals.
The study identified innovative signal‐timing solutions to congestion management to improve traffic flow as well as recommended improvements to pedestrian and bicycle facilities from the Queensbury Union Free School District campus east to the intersection of Quaker Road and River Street in South Queensbury.
Our work included a cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the return-on-investment related to the potential signal improvement alternatives throughout the corridor.
