Mercer Meadows unified a series of parks in 2010, each with its own historical and natural aspects.

AKRF was part of a consultant team that helped the Mercer County Parks Commission envision and plan an extensive park master plan with both active and passive recreational elements while promoting environmental conservation and stewardship.

The final master plan proposed over 10 miles of new trails; elements for activities such as boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and horseback riding; a dog park; and multiple opportunities for environmental education and highlighting the park’s natural features.

Based on the master plan, AKRF has documented and implemented several features of the park with work continuing today. The park system has become a centerpiece of the surrounding township and a major public amenity to adjacent communities.
