A proposed seven-mile, 10-station extension of the existing Metro Rail light rail system is taking shape in Western New York.

AKRF is providing environmental services as part of a consultant team led by WSP for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority’s proposed light rail extension from its current terminus at University Station on the University at Buffalo South Campus through the University at Buffalo North Campus to John James Audubon Parkway and Interstate 990.

The project also includes two park-and-ride facilities and a railcar maintenance and storage facility. AKRF is contributing to NEPA/SEQRA environmental analysis and documentation, including the assessments of cultural resources, noise and vibration, environmental justice and social impacts, and cumulative and indirect impacts.
